The New Zealand native songbird, the Tui, is the inspiration for this piece. A beautiful blackbird, it shimmers with vibrant greens and blues when the light catches it.
I’ve layered thick rya knots to create a sense of movement of wings against dramatic black fringing and woven contrasting jewel like areas, celebrating our iconic bird.
The tui panel is hung by a 30 cm bronze tube by black waxed thread in a triangle invoking goddess power.
